Our Favorite Walking Shoes for 2025

People often ask us "which shoe is the best for walking?" Ahh if it were only that simple. Your feet likely have different needs than those of the next person, but fortunately for you, there are options!

Picking out the best shoes for your feet can be difficult, which is why we love giving a personal fitting experience to everyone who walks in the door. For those who can't see us in store, here's our picks for the best walking shoes of the New Year.

Bonus! All of the shoes listed here are available in wide widths.

Hoka Bondi 9

One of the most cushioned and supportive shoes in Hoka's lineup, the Bondi 9 is an ideal walking shoe for many people. The brand new version just released in January and we've gotten great feedback from our customers so far! It uses engineered mesh for an improved upper over version 8 (especially in the forefoot). The Bondi 9 maintains the expected Hoka platform but is less aggressively flared compared to version 8 making for a different (and nicer) look.

New Balance 1540v4

The New Balance 1540 is best in class if you need exceptional stability and the widest array of width options.  This newest version has far and away the most comfortable fit of any 1540 to date and the platform of support and comfort is truly unmatched. Plus, it's manufactured in the USA.

Dansko Paisley

When we took over for Shoe Inn several years ago, they told us the Paisley was one of their absolute best selling shoes. We're happy to say that tradition continues here at Bend Shoe Co, and for good reason. This is a comfortable, attractive, and legit walking shoe with Dansko support and DNA all in a casual, slightly rugged styling that set it apart.  Turns out Paisley's not only a cute little town tucked out in Eastern Oregon, it's also an awesome shoe from Dansko!

SAS Tour Mesh & Journey Mesh

San Antonio Shoemakers make all their shoes in the USA (in, you guessed it... San Antonio) and the Tour Mesh (Journey Mesh for men) is a favorite for it's classic styling, varied width options, and general walking shoe comfort.  It's available in a variety of colors and even has a velcro option!

Brooks Addiction GTS 15

Brooks makes some of the best running shoes and the Addiction has long been a pillar of comfort and stability for running and walking.  Boasting a buttery fit and Brooks GTS guidance system this shoe will keep you stable so you can be on your feet all day.

Honorable Mention:

Hoka Gaviota 5:

Hoka's max-cushion stability option is great for those needing a more stable walking shoe than the Bondi.

New Balance 1080v14:

Super soft cushion, with a lightweight mesh upper makes this one a no-brainer for someone wanting a soft, high cushioned walking shoe!

Kizik London

The London is one of our favorite additions to the lineup. Kizik technology allows this shoe to be a step-in, hands-free option.

Don't miss out on our Walking Event THIS Saturday January 25th from 10-2 at our East side location.
